ABOUT THE AURORA PERFORMING ARTS GROUP
Sarah Kyle is Founder and General Director of the Aurora Performing Arts Group. The company’s mandate is to provide York Region residents with the opportunity to attend top quality musical performances and to acquire skills, training, and to participate in a love of theatrical performance.
Sarah is the sole director, producer, and choreographer of Aurora Performing Arts Group which now includes under one umbrella, Operatic and Music Theatre Productions (Aurora Opera Company), and training programs such as the Youth Performance Academy, Aurora Opera Company Children’s Chorus, Stage Door Players. Opera Zone (unique classical training in opera for youth and adults) Celtic concerts, Mid Winter Celtic Night and Inspirational recitals. The company is supported by volunteers annually from across York Region who assist in set design and building, fundraising and marketing, sewing costumes, and all the “little” extras that help bring together a community spirit for the arts.
HELPING OUR COMMUNITY
We have also produced in the past 15 years 85 concerts including special Christmas concerts, Midsummer Celtic Nights, Jazz nights, alternative music concerts, senior’s concerts, musical theatre excerpts, classical concerts and variety shows. We have produced many of these concerts and shows as fund raising efforts for community organizations such as Wesley United Church, Aurora United Church, Trinity Anglican Church, Richmond Hill United as well as churches throughout Ontario (Toronto, Peterborough, Bridgenorth, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Haliburton, Kingston, Huntsville, and Stratford. We have also assisted Doane Hospice, Southlake Palliative Care, Yellow Brick House, Girls Inc, Aurora Food Bank, Ronald MacDonald Children’s Charity, Children’s Wish Foundation, Welcoming Arms, Habitat for Humanity, Out of the Cold, and Second Harvest. We have donated tickets Aurora Seniors, NEwmarket Seniors Bereavement Groups, Doane Hospice and have done special performances for many schools in York Region.

Sarah Langford Kyle has had an international career in opera. She has performed leading roles in opera, and as symphonic soloist, and has been a concert recitalist on stages in Austria, Italy, Canada, and the U.S. Sarah has performed title roles such as Carmen (Carmen), Delilah (Samson and Delilah), The Witch (Hansel and Gretel), and Dorabella (Cosi Fan Tutte) in many opera houses around the world.
As well as the opera and musical theatre stage, Sarah loves to perform recitals. While living in Italy she was invited by the Vatican to perform for special masses. She had the opportunity to sing for Pope John Paul II and was a regular guest for the service for people. She has sung recitals in many concert stages and churches since that time. In 1995 Sarah became a soloist for the Billy Graham Mission with the opportunity to perform for some special healing concerts. Since that time she has performed in hundreds of concerts across Canada as soloist specializing in spiritual music and Celtic music. She has two solo recordings “Songs of Peace” and “Simple Gifts”. Sarah is a winner of the prestigious Meistersinger Competition in Austria, a winner of the Graz International Lieder Competition, a Winner of the Bach Oratorio Competition of New York, a Competizione dell’opera Italy 1st prizewinner, and a winner of numerous voice scholarships from the Conservatory and Canadian Opera Company among others.
She graduated suma cum lauda in Operatic Performance from the University of Toronto where she attended on scholarship from the Canadian Opera Company.. She has her ARCT in both Vocal Performance and Pedagogy and an honours graduate in Psychology and Linguistics from York University, and is a Member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
Sarah is the Founder and is the General Director of The Aurora Performing Arts Group. The 2010 productions mark the 75th opera/musical Sarah has directed. She has taught hundreds of students, adjudicated for Voice Festivals, examined for Royal Conservatory, coached singers for Broadway productions at the Princess of Wales and Royal Alexander Theatre, and trained a few pop stars as well. Some of Sarah Students have gone on to prominent singing careers ( Jessica Muirhead, , Victor Micallef, Deborah Cox , Arianna Chris to name a few)
Sarah Langford Kyle is a two time winner of the Johnson’s Cultural Achievement Award from the Town of Aurora. The Aurora Opera Company has also been the recipient of the Town of Aurora’s Community Organization of the Year. Sarah is also the recipient of the Classical Performing Arts award from IN CELEBRATION OF WOMEN for her valuable contributions to the York Region Arts Community, and a Civic Appreciation Award from the Town of Aurora. Aurora Performing Arts Group has been grateful for the Town of Aurora’s Arts and Culture Grants which they have received many times.
