ABOUT THE THEATRE PROGRAM

The well defined elements of our Youth Performance Academy include its distinctive empowerment principle and high standards of artistic excellence, which especially attracts young singers in the age range of 5-13. APAG is deeply rooted in the belief that professional standards of excellence can be applied to young artists. Our young performers are given the freedom to soar, by stressing responsible behaviour, professional discipline, artistic excellence and a commitment to artistic risk. As a result APAG children develop and advance in acting, stagecraft and voice technique. This program has been designed to develop and advance young artists, raising our audiences’ critical standards of youth performance, and mentoring the future leaders of our community. The goal of this program is to ensure that each participant who enters our doors leave with a greater knowledge of not only the artistic world in which they are fostered but to give them a deeper understanding of their own artistic sensibilities. Participants will learn ways to get over stage fright and build self confidence, as well as learn to work in a team. We will introduce the basic tools of stage craft through character motivation, scene work and song repertoire while fine tuning important skills such as vocal projection, diction and stage presence.
